From now on, anyone entering the Château d'Amboise is struck at first glance by the dazzling whiteness of the Saint-Hubert chapel. This architectural jewel, built by the kings of France during the Renaissance and which houses the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci, has been the subject of a major restoration, on a scale not seen in nearly 150 years.
Since June 1, the public has once again been able to access this former oratory of Anne de Bretagne, which in 1874 hosted the bones attributed to the Italian genius Leonardo da Vinci, who died in 1519 in Amboise.
We can only be moved by the delicacy of the sculptures and the work of local artisans.
From pastry chef to plasterer...
This is the story of a passionate man with a strong character, Jean-Jacques Laschon, known as Jacquot (1944-2022) .
🪵🪚A carpenter father, Raphaël, a cabinetmaker grandfather Anselme, .. he has the blood of passionate craftsmen flowing in his veins.
🍰He dreamed of being a pastry chef , but at the time of his apprenticeship, he found himself working for a first execrable pastry chef boss in Montoire... My grandfather decided to retire him... and the only apprenticeship available at that time moment not too far away it's... Plasterer ... 🧱
So he swaps flour...for plaster...I think that will remain one of his regrets...But at that time...As a teenager you don't decide!
In Mr. Chauveau... he discovers a demanding boss but also a second family... he will keep deep ties with them.
He then plunged into this profession with passion, and a taste for a job well done and even a requirement/intransigence well known in the sector!
✨Thus began my father's career in Amboise. He was a craftsman there, then an apprentice master , for more than 40 years.
For a wink, he will then write ''former craftsman'' on his letters. Craftsman for life!!!
It is to this journey that we pay tribute by continuing to keep this heritage alive.
By following the adventures of the Relay you participate in this tribute 🏡.
And is family heritage important to you?

Fire ! Fire !
In this very cool season.... First try of the barbecue/fireplace .
🔥 It still works as well....
Built many years ago by my father whose job it was to make open fireplaces from A to Z... (the time when the partitions were made of brick and not mounted on rails 😁)
This model in the covered patio has a little secret ... extremely effective for lighting.... A forge hidden underneath to replace the traditional bellows 😉 clever Jacquot...
The Relay adventure continues.... discover very soon the surprises we are preparing for you.
Pleased to welcome you.

The Christmas miracle took place at the Relais , our special order of small soaps for our guests was delivered.
What a joy to discover the result of our partnership with Julie Zych, creator of the Le Savon et l'Oiseau soap factory, using the traditional cold saponification method.
Julie's values and her commitment to sustainable development protecting nature and our Loire fauna appealed to us.
Our "St Jacques", symbol of Relais, are soaps made in Touraine with the most raw materials coming from short circuits, then from France , then when the product does not grow in France, from an ethical company which pays fairly the population and which respects the environment. Its packaging is also eco-responsible.
Discover all his other creations on his website https://savonetoiseau.fr
Psst... you want a little secret ...it's a nice story to collaborate with Julie, because I worked for many years with her mother Martine, we were nurses in the same department... memories...
At the beginning of December , the Relais St Jacques brand took its place.
It is the symbol of the new adventure of this residence which dates from the 1750s which was a former Auberge du Sabot d'Or, on the way to Santiago de Compostela.
Thanks to Xavier and Pierre from StudioCrayonX for this creation and this bold logo.
A new place for accommodation , meetings and exchanges, this guest house will very soon host well-being workshops and seminars.
See you there.
